2024-10-27T14:49:54Z PMC Gaming Windows 10 is up, started to update windows, this will take a while... (I'm calling the computer used to play games a PMC Gaming). This computers hardware is i7 4790K, 16gb RAM, nvidia RTX 3060 12gb and SSD Samsung 870 EVO 500gb.
2024-10-27T15:24:00Z Windows 10 updated and nvidia drivers v566.03 installed.
No wait sorry, there was one more win10 22h2 update available which I started to install.
2024-10-27T15:31:50Z Another win10 restart...
2024-10-27T15:34:18Z Win10 fully updated now, same as firefox. Okay guess I'm good to go. Except notepad++ is still not updated but guess I can live with that for few more moments/hours
Next up, installing steam as PMC Gaming SSD win10 Farming Simulator 22 system doesn't have steam, there has been no need for it.
2024-10-27T15:44:17Z Steam client installed and configured, not sure if screenshots F12 key is working properly, I might have to configure the "external copy" or whatever the option was.
2024-10-27T15:52:42Z Sea Power installed and running!
2024-10-27T15:56:46Z Figured out that screenshots in steam, for Sea Power, are saved to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\61620187\760\remote\1286220\screenshots\ dir. Got it, I need to configure my own batch file to move them into c:\PMC.Leeches\ dir.
2024-10-27T16:04:48Z Steam screenshots F12 key is configured now that it saves them as PNG into C:\PMC.Leeches\ dir, okay now I'm good to continue.
2024-10-27T16:45:13Z First mission finished, all my israeli boats got destroyed, hehe!
Man, its been a while since I played CMANO let alone Janes Fleet Command, but can I really be this rusty
Okay starting next mission, I wont play as soviet so going to choose "Charlies!", its about hunting soviet SSGN submarines with US ships, this will be cool!
2024-10-27T18:53:26Z Finished "Charlies!" mission, actually some time ago got the ending trigger, but now exited from the mission, its time to choose another one
I learned what I suspected by watching youtube videos, ship borne helicopers have no turn-around time, reloading time for weapons or jet fuel, they land and can take off fully loaded as soon as they get inside the hangar. Hopefully devs fix this at some point, otherwise its a bit too game-y to have such cheater/arcade aircraft operations.
2024-10-27T18:58:16Z Started "Dangerous Straits" mission. At this time my alarm for been awake 17hrs went off just moments ago, eyes feel a bit tired, but I'll keep going on until the yawns drive me into bed.
2024-10-27T20:07:18Z I'm dead tired and this mission seems to be quite long one, so time to call it a night, hopefully get a good nights sleep and tomorrow can blast off 17hrs Sea Power action, nites
2024-10-28T00:53:23Z Good morning, just woke up from lousy 4hrs 30min or so sleep, did the mandatory computer morning chores and now already launched PMC Gaming computer, checked update for windows 10 and now ready to launch steam client and Sea Power.
2024-10-28T00:56:15Z Sea Power is running, OK first I have to scan through the options, keyboard shortcuts, last night when was my day 1 of playing, first time ever, I was clueless of the keys, only shortcuts I remembered was hide GUI with BACKSPACE, plus and minus keys for time compression control and SPACE bar for pausing the game. Now I need to learn more keys so I can more easily operate the game
I turned options master volume down to 0.25 because how my win10 is setup with 20% volume my headphones were just BLASTING at high volume in my ears last night, but I didn't mind as I was so shocked by getting the game and almost hyperventilating emotional when getting to play it the first time, heh, but now the next day I need to think about the future, my ears, cant make tinnitus any worse

Anyways, now its time to launch, well the same mission I started yesterday.
2024-10-28T01:45:38Z Started playing "Dangerous Straits" mission.
2024-10-28T02:39:23Z Mission is going well, lost some A-7 aircrafts, but ships and helos are still OK. Now I have to eat days first meal, I'm starving. I'll leave game running in normal speed watching wisconsin battle ship while I eat...
2024-10-28T03:07:54Z Feeding time is over, back to naval warfare.
2024-10-28T04:37:36Z Still playing that same "Dangerous Straits" mission and now it started to lag, if I pause the game it gets to 31FPS, but when unpaused on normal real time 1x speed, it stutters anything between 5FPS and 27FPS, something has gone wrong under the hood for sure, maybe some script is bugging or who knows what. Unfortunately its been like this for several minutes, I don't think its going to recover just by letting it run.
2024-10-28T04:47:11Z Still no change, going to take a restroom break and if nothings changed then I have to start another mission.
2024-10-28T04:49:34Z Back, no change, okay time to restart Sea Power game and choose the next mission.
2024-10-28T04:53:05Z Sea Power restarted, starting new mission called "Dong Hoi", this is the vietnam coastal gun fire mission.
I've seen this and pretty much all of the missions coming with default game so there was nothing new and surprising. Its pretty clear to me that most if not all of these default missions begin straight away with action, player is left no choice how to conduct recon and attack, for example this mission after 1-2min of runtime my ships were attacked by MIG-17s and bombed
I cant wait to learn mission editor myself and start to make those LONG and BORING missions where YOU decide how to gather intel and attack
2024-10-28T05:34:09Z Dong Hoi mission complete, I lost Lloyd Thomas DD-764 gearing-class FRAM II and Higbee DD-806 gearing-class FRAM I ships. Exited from game.
Because that dangerous straits mission got so bad performance I'm going to be thorough and simply restart whole game between each mission, it only takes a minute so no big deal, just to be sure.
2024-10-28T05:55:04Z Back from quick Sea Power youtube new videos check and restroom break, now starting it up and launching the next mission.
Next mission is "Gauntlet", NATO task force against soviet commie scum in norway coast, cool. Well, I mean "cool" in the sense that I've seen this mission play out probably over 5 times across multiple youtube videos, so I already know about the attack boats and such, but I'll try to go into this mission like make belief playing that I don't know where and when comes what
2024-10-28T06:34:32Z This mission is surprisingly good after I expected to be bored after seeing those youtube videos, but this is very comfortable, enjoyable mission setup. Its norway coast, early in the morning dawn, limited ships, 2 warships and 2 cargo ships, three seasprite helos, very cool premise. Yes of course I knew what was coming but honestly I didn't necessarily prepare them in any way, I just went out with my helos dropping sonobuoys in 45 degree heading towards norway destination while ship group was ordered ahead 1/3, ie 6knots speed. Very enjoyable so far. One helo is already out of sonobuoys and I just got an enemy submarine contact from one of the sonobuoys, cool stuff
2024-10-28T07:19:01Z Just was watching sonobuoy which was about to expire and got jump scare as it suddenly EXPLODED right in front of the camera, hehe that was hilarious, but hey perhaps the buoys pack a small explosive charge to make it sink, dunno maybe I need to google that
Man, I love Sea Power so much, it is just awesome naval warfare fleet tactics game through and through. Yes its still very eary alpha, it has bugs, I've found few like formation manager randomly generates new formations, ship borne helos after taking off need to have waypoint removed as they get stuck in the pre-set takeoff waypoint, small things like that which don't prevent enjoyable game-play already at this stage before early access is even out.
I can see myself playing and enjoying this naval warfare game for years and years to come. I played Cold Waters for years and I feel like Sea Power looks at Cold Waters, then me and says "hold my beverage..."
2024-10-28T10:46:18Z Mission completed successfully!
And perfect timing as alarm for lunch break went off while the fatal two harpoons were approaching nanuchka. So now going to cook food and eat, then next mission begins.
2024-10-28T11:46:04Z Feeding time is over, back to Sea Power.
Okay now I have, oh, 5hrs 55min left on my been awake 17hrs timer, but no matter I will stay awake some extra for sure. And even without extra insomnia hours, that six hours is quite nice gaming session. Interesting though that so far I've only played couple of missions, OK guess its few now, and it has taken me so many hours. Some of these missions are quite long, OR that I'm playing them cautiously, not exactly cheating but for example Gauntlet mission, I knew what was going to happen so I set my surface action group to creep 6kts speed and just chilled operating with helos, the most dangerous opponent which was nanuchkas got tricked to run its waypoint "and back" before I was even in firing range. Yeah I know, guess as I saw what happens in this mission I took it slow, no reason to rush into enemy fire. But anyways yeah, cant wait to play more and then starting to make my own missions.
Next mission is Hormuz, this is really good mission which I've watched for example Wolfpack345's video twice as I enjoyed the 4k footage so much, but unfortunately I now also know what to do, basically same as in Gauntlet, creep 6kts and in fact I'll probably turn tankers back towards the open sea at full speed just in case something gets through, there is zero need to put precious cargo into danger.
2024-10-28T11:52:58Z Started mission "Hormuz".
So what I did was paused the game immediately after mission started, then took tankers off the formation, created new formation and sent them flank speed to SE direction, set my surface action group (SAG) into line formation with ahead 1/3 speed and launched three helicopters. Now I have to face what the mission designer has in store for me, as said I already know there will be aircrafts, helos and anti ship missiles, a lot of laughs when you are screwed the moment the mission starts, but, I did what I could, now just have to hope its enough. I wont be having this kind of rushing to action problems in my own missions once I get to create them, no sir.
2024-10-28T15:24:02Z Mission accomplished, "Hormuz" has been completed
Basic setup, as I explained above. Then I proceeded to shoot down all incoming helicopters and F-5 tigers, unfortunately few of my sea sprite helos were a bit too far out in the front and got caught by the F-5's. Then got close to the coastal anti ship missile vehicles and shot guns at them until they were all dead, guess there were few missiles as well, but everything got annihilated, I whacked them all heh, well OK the airbase was left standing but basically I ran out of ammo
Okay then, email/news check and restroom break, then next mission.
2024-10-28T15:30:53Z Steam client and Sea Power restarted, okay next mission was Hormuz (hard), then there was Hormuz (tarawa), hmm decided to check those out just for the curiosity sake, especially the tarawa, I recall that was some helicopter carrier ship. But I'm not going to re-play the same mission again, also I bet the hard version might not even show any differences on the start.
Hmm hard had spruance instead of kidd and oliver hazard perry's name was gallery instead of, err what was it on the original mission. Also there was three tankers now, not two. Cant tell what was hard on that mission, briefing did not mention anything.
And tarawa had indeed that carrier ship, there was CH-46 and AH-1 cobra gunship helos and AV-1 harriers, interesting loadout, same three tankers as the hard version.
Alright time for the next real mission then, its called "Hunters or Hunted?". But uh oh, this was soviet commie scum mission, okay hard pass.
Next mission was "Sub Duel". Okay then, this is where you control Los Angeles class Flight1 boat against soviet alpha class sub, kind of small mission equipment wise, but might be fun.
2024-10-28T15:41:28Z Mission started. Lets kill that alpha.
Submarine commanding was interesting, the underwater environmental sound was well kind of good sounding like being underwater heh, I like it. But still, after this mission just started, I do wonder how it will play out as Sea Power is so hands on command alike game/sim, its not Cold Waters for sure. Although you can control the sub actually same way as in cold waters, even to release noise makers. But yeah, I still feel, whether its psychological effect or not, that Sea Power is not really suited for this kind of mission that you only control one sub. But I'll play this out and see how it goes.
Hmm I'm probably imagining this, but Sea Power underwater umm sub commanding sounds much more quiet than Cold Waters, dunno how to describe it or err why am I experiencing it like this, heck I don't even remember Cold Waters sub making any sound or anything. Or could it be that almost one day of gaming with surface ships, helicopters and jet aircrafts have made me deaf with all the blasting sounds, now this underwater world is like silent service, all quiet hush hush
2024-10-28T16:03:24Z I was just watching the los angeles class sub go in all kinds of free camera and flyby camera modes, it is just so awesome, so cool to see these big naval warfare units operate
But guess now I have to time accelerate and see what happens, I have no idea if this might take hours of waiting in real time otherwise.
2024-10-28T16:31:31Z Aand mission complete. Well, that was easy. Alfa was approaching me slightly on the right side (don't know if that was port or starboard in naval language heh), but then he turned around almost 180 degrees, I fired two MK-48 torpedoes to my right side, so they can be steered away from my sub, then turned towards the enemy and if he takes snapshots back at me, they will go to the wrong direction. Soon after my torpedoes were fired alpha went to periscope depth, took a look with periscope (or ESM mast dunno), then put up a radar mast for moment before continuing. He turned slowly to the left and eventually heard my torpedoes but it was already too late, it took a while for MK-48's reach the alfa with their 50kts speed but both hit her, she sank like a rock, mission accomplished.
I feel like that was fake scripted mission, the alfa turning her tail on me and then going to showboat that periscope and radar check, but who knows maybe I was just extremely lucky to witness that.
Okay next mission, I don't even want to take a look at my timer how much before bed time, plan now is to play until the timer goes off, then take a shower and hope that gives me some refreshment insomnia energy to continue hour or two.
Next mission after game restart is Top Gun, after the 1986 tom cruise movie
2024-10-28T16:40:33Z Oh wow, iceman was shot down like 30sec into the mission, haha!
2024-10-28T16:43:32Z Aaand again, hehe dunno what you are supposed to do in this mission, I am honestly disappointed of this kind of quick action shoot'em up ones, I mean yeah sure its all good and fun, but... well, yeah, anyways. Okay next mission, that is the last on the list, Valuable Target, hmm I honestly cant remember if this was a soviet commie scum mission or not.
2024-10-28T16:45:51Z Yeah it was, I wont play soviet commie scum side. Yeah yeah I know its a game and I do play as terrorist in ofp/arma often times as its so easy mission wise, but yeah I am not going to start learning soviet stuff in naval warfare, yes I want to learn enough that how far they can shoot and such so I can avoid getting into their firing range with my US/NATO ships, but it just goes against everything I believe to play as soviet commie bastard, in fact I don't remember ever doing any soviet ofp/arma missions either.
Okay shut down Sea Power and steam, now email/news check and restroom break before continuing. I want to check steam discussion forum if there has been any messages that are interesting.
2024-10-28T16:54:25Z That was a quick one, okay then, hmm technically speaking that dangerous straits mission ended up being laggy and I exited it before it finished, hmm I'm sort of leaning towards giving it another try, but would be quite waste of time if it would do the same performance issue after hour or so game-play, hmm. Also that mission while it had cool ships, it just wasn't sexy overall, it was traditional panic action shoot'em up start.
Hmm yeah nope, I'm going to start studying mission editor now
2024-10-28T17:35:36Z Well placed nimitz aircraft carrier, USS reuben james and USS dallas in north atlantic, then played the mission, launched E-2C and F-14 tomcats, but as that is all there is... I then exited. Went to check out encyclopedia, its kind of cool. There was so many units that I only browsed through the submarine classes as those are the most familiar to me from Cold Waters.
Hmm, okay... now what?
Hmm I'm quite surprised that it only took me less than a day, well OK lets call it one day even 17hrs game-play as yesterday I did few hours and today been at it since the morning, to get through those default missions. No I don't mean that players should demand more but just me overall getting through them.
BTW steam client shows for Sea Power: 19.2hrs played.
Hmm honestly I'm not very interested of playing my first mission template I made as there is nothing to play, no objectives and not even any enemies. I'm not sure how this game will develop but I didn't find any randomization options in mission editor, no random starting location or waypoint random radiuses, hmm not sure am I going to place enem submarines so that they are random on every play-through, hmm.
2024-10-28T17:42:32Z Alarm went off, been awake 17hrs now, oh wow and I'm not even tired yet. Hmm but I do wonder... would this be perfect timing to take a shower, go through all days news and RSS feeds, forums and whatnot, then just get some sleep, I mean... what possibly could I do in Sea Power today that would top what I've done so far, hmm.
Yeah I decided to call it a night here, take a shower, do those daily chores news, forum etc checks, then get some well deserved sleep. So not sure what comes out of this text, but this is the good night call for first full day of Sea Power gaming
