Tactical Display Map Layers Sea Power. Welcome to PMC website for naval warfare game: Sea Power Naval Combat in the Missile Age.
See the main Tactical Display page.
In Tactical Display top right corner you have the icon for three horizontal lines, this is the icon/button to click for getting into tactical display map drawing stuff. Map layers is what I'm calling filters there. In the below example image you can see so many different options to turn on and off. To turn something on select it and "tick mark" appears in front of the option, do the same to turn off, tick mark disappears.
Lets go through each of these map layers options one by one, most of them are quite self explanatory though.

Contact Icons: Wingmen this means a group members, it says wingment but it applies to a group of ships as well, all the sub-ordinate units in the group.
Contact Info: Type is the general type like "SSN" or "FFG" or "SSGN" etc.
Contact Info: Class is the specific class like "Los Angeles Flt1" etc.
Contact Info: Range when you have your unit selected, then all the other units in the whole tactical display show "range NM" in nautical miles from your currently selected unit. Another nice way to assess threat level is when you get a new submarine or enemy ship contact, select it and then go back to your own units to see the range, are your guys within weapon range or not.
Contact Info: Emissions PMCTODO I recall this was like "(S)" for sonar detection, "(E)" for electronic support measures and "(V)" for visual etc.
Unused hmm :o
Contact Ellipse PMCTODO

Waypoint Path the line drawn between waypoint vertices/points for currently selected unit.
Current Waypoint all the wapoint vertices/points for currently selected unit.

Formation Elements PMCTODO
Aircraft Fuel Range a blue circle for aircraft fuel remaining. When that circle reaches "zero" means it shrinks until it reaches the unit itself, then its time to return to base (RTB). Sea Power automatically gives RTB order for your unit once its bingo fuel (bingo means its out of fuel to operate, just has enough to get back to home base).
Weapon Seekers cones for weapons to show where are they searching/tracking possible enemy units.
Weapon Vectors PMCTODO
Weapon Sonobuoys when you drop a lot of sonobuoys tactical display could get cluttered, this allows you to turn sonobuoy "map markers" off.

That gives you plenty of control over Tactical Display Map Layers / filters, turn on/off whatever you prefer.
Tactical Display map filters are useful tool to clear up the clutter, to let you focus on the important icons. Below example shows top right corner where map filters are activated.
